Most know me for gar fishing, but before I hunted Kansas river for gar, I was bewitched by a stronger fish with sharper teeth. Northern pike. As many of you know I relocated back to the Chicago land area. Here the waters run much colder. The neighbor hood river hold few gar, but many pike. I have been throwing four inch flies on my five weight at the river’s weed lines. The key is hard bottom near some sort of rapids. The oxygen combine with the rocks is the key. Shade helps too.
